Everyone in the business marketing world knows how important, yet how difficult, it is for a business to get its name out there so people will be able to find them. Since there has been a shift in marketing trends, it’s important to know how to improve your brand or product marketing through search engine optimization–SEO–and more specifically about in-page SEO.

SEO helps your website become more visible on the Web allowing it to gain the organic traffic it needs in order to help your business improve its sales and profits without having to pay for advertisements. This can be achieved by choosing the appropriate SEO techniques to help your website rise in the ranks of the search engine results pages. With in-page SEO, this focuses more on optimizing your web pages through improving the SEO elements found in the web pages of your website itself.

When we talk about SEO elements, there are 5 very important elements which can help increase traffic to your website:

1 – Keywords

Knowing what the targeted or most searched keywords are by search engine users is vital in in-page SEO, because keywords are the building blocks and foundation of SEO. If the keywords used are not right or are not as equally competitive as those used by your competitors, then other SEO elements will ultimately fail too. This is very important because of the process search engines use to work and bring back search results. When you type in a query in search engines, it browses through its database based on the keywords you typed in. If the keyword you used is relevant and compatible with what is being searched, then web pages that contain content with those keywords will appear in the search engine results pages.

2 – Content

In relation to keywords, the content of your webpage should be relevant and informative. Keywords matter alongside content because these are the things which people are after. Search engines usually rank higher the web pages that have content with a high number of word counts. Also, regarding the placement of keywords within articles, it would be better if you placed keywords in the first few sentences because this gives the reader the idea that the article is worth reading and is actually related to their query. The other content of your webpage can also include pictures, audios, videos, or other multimedia. These would entice people to stay on your webpage longer. The longer a person stays on your website, the better because search engines also take into account the length of stay of visitors on your website in determining whether or not it’s relevant.

3 – Meta Tags

Meta tags include meta title and meta description. They are very important in the sense that these are what appear in search engine results pages. Your website must have a very catchy meta title and an inviting meta description that provides for an overview of what your readers may find if he or she clicks on the link found in the results pages. Without these, or when one uses the wrong meta tags, it poses the risk of your website not being visited. This results in a waste of employing SEO techniques because people will not continue their visit on your website.

4 –  Links

Link building matters so much because this is also considered by search engines to be one of the indicators in determining if a website deserves to rank high in search engine results pages. Search engines consider .gov and .edu websites as high authorities. This means that when a your website gets backlinks from .gov and .edu websites, then it strongly indicates it contains highly relevant information and content.

5 – Social Media Sharing

It is undeniable that social media is one of the most effective ways of marketing. Almost everyone has their own account and people can easily find businesses without having to invest so much on advertisement. It is more advisable that your website contain social sharing buttons. Through these buttons, people would get the word out and spread the information about your products and services. Hence, the information is not limited only within your website, but spread to a wider spectrum.

Remember that each business is unique; therefore, it is important to note that there’s no single solution for all businesses. Search engine optimization is a long-term process, and it will take continuous observation and analysis before you could see its effects such as the increase in sales and profits.
